Formerly known as ‘Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company (TELCO), Tata Motors is one of the leading Indian car companies. The company was founded way back in 1945 and was first a manufacturer of locomotives, having introduced its first commercial vehicle in 1954. The automotive industry is headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, and has numerous assembly and manufacturing plants in Pune, Dharwad, Sanand, Lucknow, Pantnagar, and Jamshedpur.

ormerly known as Maruti Udyog Limited, Maruti Suzuki is one of the most popular Indian car manufacturers. It is a subsidiary of the popular Japanese motorcycle and automobile brand, Suzuki. The vehicle company is known for its reputation for producing some of the most budget-friendly vehicles. It was founded in 1981 and manufactured its first vehicle in 1984. It has more than 933 dealerships across 666 cities and towns in India with 3,060 service stations around 1,454 towns and cities and 30 Express Service Stations around 30 National Highways.
MAHINDRA & MAHINDRA (M&M)
Headquartered in Maharashtra, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited is in Indian multination car manufacturer. It is by far the largest manufacturer and seller of tractors across the world and is one of the biggest vehicle manufacturers in India. The company is a part of the Mahindra Group and is in constant competition with Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, and Ashkok Leyland.

The South Korean automobile manufacturer of India, Hyundai Motors is ranked amongst the biggest car maker in the world.Its subordinate, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), is the second biggest car producer in India with popular brands such as Getz, Sonata Embera, Santro, Elantra, Accent and Tuscon under it. The firm has been certified under ISO 14001 for entailing sustainable eco-friendly administration practices.

Giovanni Agnelli founded Fiat SpA in 1899. In India, the company was established in 1905 when Bombay Motor Cars Agency was appointed as its sales agent. Fiat India Pvt. Ltd. manufacturers cars at Kurla, Mumbai and Rajangaon, Pune Maharashtra.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor Ltd
In October 1997, Toyota Kiloskar Motors (TKM) started as a joint venture between Kirloskar Group and Toyota Motor Corporation. Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) holds 89% of the share and the remaining 11% is owned by Kirloskar Group. TMC was established in 1937 by Kiichiro Toyota in Japan. It is the largest vehicle manufacturer of Japan and is one of the biggest vehicle manufacturers of the world. The manufacturing unit is located at Bidadi near Bangalore.
Chevrolet Automobile Company
Although Chevrolet was first introduced in India way back in 1928, with an office in Bombay (now Mumbai) and an assembly plant in Sewree, it had to stop operating in 1952-53 along with other foreign manufacturers as per an Indian government's directive. Chevrolet, under its present brand name and as a subsidiary of General Motors, began its operations in India in June 2003. Prior to this, General Motors used to manufacture and sell models like Opel Astra, Opel Corsa and Opel Vectra in association with Hindustan Motors.
