About this app

FireScanner is a cross-platform application built specifically for Gujarat Technological University. It is a barcode scanning attendance system based on React and real-time database. In addition, It allows faculties to take attendance of students of their respective class with ease, store all of the records at one place without worrying about it and along with it gives an overall analysis of students’ attendance with percentages. At the same time, It gives students an easy, secured and interactive way to fill up their attendance either by scanning their Id cards or entering a random 4-digit code generated and provided by faculty members every time they take students’ attendance. Moreover, It also provides students a detailed analysis of their attendance respectively.

How to use FireScanner?

1. Download and launch the FireScanner Application

2. Register yourself either as a student or as a faculty member. Please, do make sure that you’re not registering as a faculty iF you're student. If you further want to test this app or want to explore more about faculty section while being a student, you can use our beta website called firedance.web.app.

3. If you’ve registered as a faculty member, you’ll see home page having no classes. Students are not allowed to create classes. So, facultes need to do the same and then have to add student to their respective classes to take their attendance. Faculties will be given three operations to perform on each classes - Edit, Delete, Take records of Students. Editing of class consists of editing the student members of that respective class. Delete simply means to delete the class. The third option which is to take students’ attendance will be visible once faculty will generate a 4-digit random code.

4. The random generated 4-digit code will then be given to the all students’ member by faculty of their respective classes. As soon as student will enter correct code, camera scanning section will come into the play and then students can either scan their respective ID cards or use the alternative option of entering their own Enrolment No.

5. After successful completion of the verification, students will be redirected to the attendees page and you’re done.

6. After taking all students’ attendance, an option of saving all the data in the database only to the faculty members. As soon as faculty will store all the data, he/she will be able see overall analysis of students’ attendance in the Analytics Fragment.
