Himachal Pradesh Board of Secondary Education and Senior Secondary Education, there is Himachal Pradesh board which is called as ‘HPBOSE‘ and ‘HP Board Senior.’ The HPBOSE stands for Board of Secondary Education, Himachal Pradesh State whereas HP Board Senior stands for Board of Intermediate (12th) Education, Himachal Pradesh State. The 12th Senior Board has multiple streams like Arts, Science, Commerce, General, Vocational and other. These two boards are the education boards of Himachal Pradesh state. After qualifying 10th which is Secondary School Certificate for 10th class, the candidates or the students prefer to join Intermediate, even some candidates or students prefer to join Diploma, ITI, and other courses.

The Himachal Pradesh Senior 12th examinations are conducted for all the students who have appeared for their subjects from different streams or branches like Arts, Science, Commerce, General, Vocational, etc. for Intermediate 11th class junior as well as Intermediate 12th class seniors. These exams are also conducted throughout the Himachal Pradesh state. Students register for subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Maths, First Language, Second Language, and other languages. Their 12th percentage in certain subjects may improve (depending on exam) the ranking in competitive exams like Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and NEET Examination.

Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education is an agency of Government of Himachal Pradesh entrusted with the responsibilities of prescribing courses of instructions and textbooks and conducting examinations for secondary school students in Himachal Pradesh. It was set up in 1969 and has its headquarters in Dharamshala. Kultar and Rana from Kangra were the first chairmen. At present more than 8000 schools are affiliated with the Board.
