Surah An-Nazi’at (bahasa Arab:النّازعات) adalah surah ke-79 dalam al-Qur'an. Surah ini tergolong surah Makkiyah, terdiri atas 46 ayat. Dinamakan An Naazi’aat yang berarti Malaikat-malaikat yang mencabut berasal dari kata An Naazi’aat yang terdapat pada ayat pertama surat ini.

nama lain surat ini adalah : as-Sahirah (Permukaan Bumi); at-Tammah (Malapetaka Besar)

“Demi (malaikat-malaikat) yang mencabut (nyawa) dengan keras, (1) dan (malaikat-malaikat) yang mencabut (nyawa) dengan lemah-lembut, (2)” (QS An-Nazi’at [79]: 1-2)

An-Nazi’at (“النازعات“) yaitu para malaikat yang mencabut nyawa.

Terjadi ikhtilah para ulama tentang makna an-nasyithath (“النَّاشِطَاتِ“). Ibnu ‘Abbas mengatakan “وَالنَّاشِطَاتِ نَشْطًا” artinya malaikat yang mencabut nyawa dengan mudah. Kalau yang pertama (yaitu) mencabut nyawa dengan keras, yang kedua yaitu mencabut nyawa dengan mudah.

Sebagian ulama menafsirkan “وَالنَّازِعَاتِ غَرْ‌قًا ﴿١﴾ وَالنَّاشِطَاتِ نَشْطًا ﴿٢﴾وَالنَّازِعَاتِ غَرْ‌قًا” artinya “Demi malaikat maut yang mencabut nyawa dengan keras.” dan “وَالنَّاشِطَاتِ نَشْطًا” artinya “Demi malaikat maut yang mencabut nyawa dengan mudah.”

Pembuka Surah an-Nāzi‘āt

Orang yang sedang berada dalam perjalanan dan mengalami kematian dari sempitnya tabiat untuk menuju jagat raya kebenaran, berhijrah dari satu tempat dan kebutuhannya menuju berbagai kewajiban yang inti; pasti mengetahui bahwa untuk membebaskan diri dan selamat dari ikatan angan-angan dan belenggu harapan secara mutlak, itu tidak mudah. Hal ini tidak dapat dilakukan kecuali dengan adanya tarikan dari Allah s.w.t. dan wahyu-Nya yang dikuasakan kepada nama-nama dan sifat-sifatNya di alam wujud dan kerusakan, yang dinamai dengan malaikat yang mencabut dan membebaskan arwah manusia, di mana arwah ini merupakan bagian dari tentara-tentara alam ketuhanan yang dipenjara dalam watak kemanusiaan yang sempit, dalam istana identitas, dan dalam benteng tabiat dan kecenderungan.

The Surah opens with oaths sworn by the angels who take the soul at deaths and those who hasten to carryout Allah's Commands, and those who conduct the affairs of the universe according to Divine Will, to assure that the Resurrection will certainly come to pass and the second life after death will certainly take place. For the angels who are employed to pluck out the soul today can also be employed to restore the soul tomorrow, and the angels who promptly execute Allah's Commands and conduct the affairs of the universe today can also upset the order of the universe tomorrow by orders of the same God and can also bring about a new order.

the question of the disbelievers of Makkah as to when Resurrection will take place, has been answered. They asked the Holy Prophet this question over and over again. In reply it has been said that the knowledge of the time of its occurrence rests with Allah alone. The Messenger is there only to give the warning that it will certainly come. Now whoever wishes may mend his ways, fearing its coming, and whoever wishes may behave and conduct himself as he likes, fearless of its coming. When the appointed time comes, those very people who loved the life of this world and regarded its pleasures as the only object of life, would feel that they had stayed in the world only for an hour or so. Then they will realize how utterly they had ruined their future for ever for the sake of the short lived pleasures of the world.
