I had dropped it down a notch to being a little aggressive to just cruising it.

Makes you rethink how you drive.

I love the objective of this app. But it doesn't seem accurate. I drove in Los Angeles last week and those trips were perfect. However, back in SA it reported me as speeding several times when I know I wasn't. It said the speed limit on I 35 was 40mph. Also it reported hard breaking and acceleration when there was none.

Worked great for a while but lately when I get on I 35 it keeps mistaking my position and thinks I'm on the access road going 70 hopefully there's some solution to that soon. Otherwise it works pretty well though.

I love the concept of the app but doesn't work for me. I have driven countless of times and has only recorded 2 trips.

About this app

San Antonio's Safest Driver makes it fun and rewarding to be a better driver*.

Now’s your chance to show off your safe driving skills and compete for prizes! The San Antonio's Safest Driver Contest allows participants to challenge their friends, see how they rank in their community, and win prizes every other week. The competition is brought to you by the City of San Antonio, Vision Zero, and USAA. The effort is part of San Antonio's Vision Zero plan to end traffic deaths and serious injuries on city streets. Better behavior behind the wheel is key to achieving this aggressive goal. For more information, please visit http://www.sasafestdriver.com/.

San Antonio's Safest Driver automatically detects when driving starts and stops, and uses your phone’s sensors to measure driving quality, including acceleration, braking, cornering, speeding, and phone distraction. The application logs your driving trips, displays mapped routes of your drives, and displays details on maneuvers giving you useful feedback to help you become a better driver. In addition, it provides driving tips and allows you to invite friends to your leaderboard to compete for top rankings. The app also tracks transit and bike trips.

The competition is for residents (who are at least 18 years of age or older) of San Antonio and the surrounding areas included within the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization boundaries. To verify eligibility, you will need to enter your participating zip code on the registration page. Please note, the City of San Antonio is subject to the Texas Public Information Act, Chapter 552 of the Texas Government Code. By participating in San Antonio's Safest Driver, you acknowledge that any records you submit may be subject to disclosure pursuant to the Public Information Act.

Why does my Samsung phone not record all my trips?
Samsung has several different power save settings that can interfere with automatic (background) trip detection. Power save mode must be set to "Off" (not "Mid" or "Max") in order for the app to access GPS in the background. The app also must be in the "unmonitored" app; monitored apps will be put to sleep unless you keep opening them manually, and "always sleeping" apps will never record trips in the background.

Why does my Huawei phone not record all my trips?
Huawei phones must list the app in the "protected" category under Battery settings. Unprotected apps cannot run in the background.

*Your phone must contain a gyroscope to be able to download and compete.

For complete contest rules, please visit http://www.sasafestdriver.com/.

The application uses low-power sensing methods to reduce battery consumption.
