This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing FORTE Score Creator & Composer on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.

Has worked well but since most recent update I have not been able to open the dropbox files. After logging in the app goes to 'forte notation' after having briefly tried 'dropbox'. I have confirmed that my login details are correct. I can still login from the dropbox website. Geoff 19 Feb 2020. The latest update has made it work again - excellent, however there is now a new problem! It doesn't go immediately to the folder with the music. The user has to go down the tree to the folder. Not ideal.

This app is really good considering it's free. It has the essential features covered. It has many instruments and allows different volumes for each part. However, the header and notification bar takes up the screen when not playing and the volume screen is a bit clunky (scrolling isn't locked to x and y axis). I've also noticed that the arpeggios are too slow by default. Maybe there's a setting for it. I feel that it also drains battery (not sure). Edit: midi works now.

Hmmm...why does this app only play my scores that have 18 staves - over 24 different instruments and they're are massed - in a petty piano form? Couldn't you translate The midi staves into the instruments they are labeled and written in the midi channel for each? Or, do I have to pay for you guys for that pathetic luxury? Why are you guys even bothering to put this app out anyway - you guys gotta long way to go to make it viable for the everyday Classical Orchestral composer, really...
