About this app

From Latin rock to psychedelic cumbia and everything in between, Alt.Latino Radio spins a genre-bending mix where tradition meets innovation. In collaboration with NPR Musicā€™s program dedicated to Latin alternative music and rock in Spanish, KUTX brings you this great mix 24/7 over the air, online and in the palm of your hand.

This new app for Alt Latino focuses on providing a high-quality stream. We'll have the playlist feature running soon along with a couple other things too. We're providing an all digital, efficient stream using the AAC+ codec. It sounds great on all platforms, devices, radios and even over cellular. Tap in some headphones and have a listen.

Be sure to tune in on Fridays and Sundays when KUTX hosts inject their selections into Alt.Latino. Austin-based hosts Michael Crockett and Hayes McCauley bring decades of experience and passion in Latin and world music to listeners through two great programs. Their hand-picked tracks from extensive personal libraries broaden the mix with exclusive music and themes you wonā€™t hear anywhere else.

Michael Crockett airs Global Grooves on Fridays from 2 to 6 p.m.

Hayes McCauley puts down the best in World Music on Sundays from 5 to 7 p.m.

If you have an HD Radio in your car or at home, tune in to 90.5 in Austin and flip to channel 3 for your weekly spin of the best new Latin alternative music.

Are you also a fan of KUT or KUTX? Please download the individual versions of those apps as well. Similar features, but with the same great audio. We've separated the apps so we can bring better and different features to each in the future.

And if you're still using the legacy KUT app, the white one with blues and yellows, please switch to this version and delete the old one. We'll be turning it off this summer along with the low-bitrate streams it only supports, going back to the days when the cellular networks could barely handle 24 kbps streams.

KUTX 98.9 Austin is a public radio station from The University of Texas. We broadcast from the Moody College of Communication in the Belo Center for New Media on campus, bringing you the best of Austin music. We couldnā€™t do what we do without your continued support. Thanks for listening!
