Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Ordnett - Engelsk blå ordbok on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.

About this app

The dictionary is among the largest and most advanced dictionaries to and from English on the Android platform in the Norwegian market. It contains translations of more than 100,000 English and Norwegian words and 70,000 phrases. It contains British English as well as American English.

About 40,000 of the English words contain pronunciation, so that you can hear the word simply by touching the loudspeaker icon. The pronunciations have been recorded by English native speakers.

In spite of its size the dictionary performs searches promptly, and the word you type emerges on a list as you gradually are keying in the letters. As the word you are searching for appears in the word list, you can immediately see the translation.

If the word has several meanings, or you would like to see more details about it, you can touch the word and see all the details - e.g. other possible translations, phrases and text examples, inflected forms etc.

Also see the screen dumps, which show examples of the many different types of information you get in the dictionary.
As of November 2016 the dictionary is updated to work well with Android OS 6.0, but will no longer be updated.

If you have a subscription on Ordnett Pluss, this dictionary can be used in a special Ordnett App.
