This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Ordnett - Engelsk stor ordbok on PC Windows and Mac.

PROS - Large database of key words - Offline - With usage examples - With commonly used phrases and expressions tagged to key words /// CONS - No conjugations for viewing - Cannot search for conjugations (if you don't know the infinitive of the verb you're looking for, you're on your own) - Can't use my keyboard prediction (using Swiftkey), so I have to type out the word letter by letter - Can't see my notification bar /// I hope there's an app for searching for conjugations too. /// Using the newest version, it doesn't crash

I don't know if it is the fact I changed my phone, but the program does not crash any longer.

Hard to say if it is worth the price. Really no competition, no alternative en-no dict, or I would say it's a bit below average. Be careful with this company since they have not updated their apps for years, and now set astronomical prices for their sibling products. Watch your finger!

Hugely expensive and now refuses to update the dictionary, and hasn't for a long time. Thievery, plus only has some verb conjunctions, not all. Rip-off and greedy company. Won't buy anything from them again.

Kunnskapsforlaget's English Comprehensive Dictionary

The dictionary is indisputably the largest and most advanced dictionary to and from English for Android devices in the Norwegian market. The Norwegian-English dictionary contains more than 95,000 headwords and phrases and 204,000 translations. The English-Norwegian dictionary contains 124,000 headwords and phrases and 320,000 translations. It contains British English as well as American English.

About 40,000 of the English words contain pronunciation, so that you can hear the word simply by touching the loudspeaker icon. The pronunciations have been recorded by English native speakers.

In spite of its size the dictionary performs searches promptly, and the word you type emerges on a list as you gradually are keying in the letters. As the word you are searching for appears in the word list, you can immediately see the translation.

If the word has several meanings, or you would like to see more details about it, you can touch the word and see all the details - e.g. other possible translations, phrases and text examples, inflected forms etc.

You can search with wildcards: ? for an arbitrary letter; * for 0 or more arbitrary letters.

Also see the screen dumps, which show examples of the many different types of information you get in the dictionary.

Note: The download is done in two stages. The download time depends on the speed of your Internet connection.

As of November 2016 the dictionary is updated to work well with Android OS 6.0, but will no longer be updated.
