It's a disaster. Leaving aside the confusing and clumsy user-interface, the basic funtionality of operating Musiccast devices barely works correctly half the time you try to get everything powered up and linked together--at least on a Wifi network. It's like this little game I play two or three days per week at breakfast time to see if I can untangle the knots it misconfigures itself into before I have to leave for work. I'm going to try wiring the speakers to the network, and see if that helps.

Love the app. I use it for my receiver (RX-V485) with old wired speakers wired to the RX-V485 (Bose Acoustimass 5 Series ii and Bose midrange), and 2 MusicCast 20 speakers. Each MusicCast 20 is in a different room. I can have music everywhere or music and TV. My home is small and I am wireless WiFi throughout. I use Net Radio, Audio 1, Server, and Spotify with MusicCast. I plan to upgrade the RX-V485 before too long because I think the 485 is underpowered for the Bose.

it keeps losing the plot with my playlists. also why can't it pick up the album art from the server folder for each track. I'd also like to be able to select an album after going into the artist folder and playing that album not a list of songs in some random order. Yamaha: you can do so much better than this; Sonos had the above cracked 10 years ago. Yamaha stuff is usually fantastic (I own lots) but the app needs some improvement.

It COULD HAVE been a great tool for managing Yamaha devices; unfortunately the UI is not well planned, eg has anybody tested how many operations it takes to switch from loudspeakers to one of Bluetooth devices (eg, headphones)? Answer :too many! Or, how can one edit list of Bluetooth devices allowed without resetting the whole config? And so on... A pity, I hope these details will be polished!

no search function in dlna library. genre organization in dlna doesn't sort by album; just a long list of songs. no track traversing for anything but mp3. stored playlist is buggy (confuses songs after a while). if you can ignore than it gets the job done. net radio is solid. Pandora solid. spotify endpoint solid (via spotify app). other platforms blow this out of the water.

Being a user for, I would say, couple of year, or longer, and now linking up to 4 to 5 appliances wirelessly on daily basis. Not perfect but high score, nonetheless, for my own experience. A Versatile Software, is the word which spring to mind. "Not having any other experiences with other similar products is the main canviat"
