This is my favorite British English dictionary app. It is especially helpful to me as an American when reading books from the UK. It has a great feature to help find answers for crossword puzzles when you only know a few letters. In addition to the dictionary, I highly recommend the Chambers thesaurus app. They are a wonderful word pair well worth the cost!

Awesome dictionary. I have been using lot of other premium dictionaries but this one is different and very helpful for English language learners. I recommended to all and worth give a shot. Deserves ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. Keep updating the app.

It transpires that the dev thought IPA too difficult for people, so he made up his own! /dh/ = 'th' in 'the'. 👀 The arrogant, conceited tool.

Shorter OED contains twice as many words (they say) but does not even have the widely used 'beefcake'. So, Chambers, crossword puzzlers favourite, I'm going with you. Simple interface and the X-ref function is very nice. I don't need usage examples in a dictionary so your lack of them isn't an issue for me, but may be for others. Better etymology would be great, but not essential.

The Chambers was the dictionary on our family bookshelf since before I was born. I think my mum was recommended it at university. I must have been one of the first users when it appeared on the iPhone and I'm more than happy to fork out another £7 for it now I've switched to Android. It is truly pulchritudinous (the first word I needed to look up on it :-)

The best dictionary I've ever used as a student of literature. It contains many old, archaic words that you can encounter in old works of literature and can't find them in other dictionaries nowadays. The definitions are short, quick and easy to understand. My only problems are the lack of voiced pronunciation, and the fact that you need a separate thesaurus app to look up synonyms. Chambers dictionary and thesaurus should be one app. Other than that, excellent app to use alongside wordweb.
