About this app

भगवती गायत्री आद्याशक्ति प्रकृति के पाँच स्वरूपों में एक मानी गयी हैं। इनका विग्रह तपाये हुए स्वर्ण के समान है। यही वेद माता कहलाती हैं। वास्तव में भगवती गायत्री नित्यसिद्ध परमेश्वरी हैं। किसी समय ये सविता की पुत्री के रूप में अवतीर्ण हुई थीं, इसलिये इनका नाम सावित्री पड़ गया।

कहते हैं कि सविता के मुख से इनका प्रादुर्भाव हुआ था। भगवान सूर्य ने इन्हें ब्रह्माजी को समर्पित कर दिया। तभी से इनकी ब्रह्माणी संज्ञा हुई।

कहीं-कहीं सावित्री और गायत्री के पृथक्-पृथक् स्वरूपों का भी वर्णन मिलता है। इन्होंने ही प्राणों का त्राण किया था, इसलिये भी इनका गायत्री नाम प्रसिद्ध हुआ।

उपनिषदों में भी गायत्री और सावित्री की अभिन्नता का वर्णन है- गायत्रीमेव सावित्रीमनुब्रूयात्।

गायत्री ज्ञान-विज्ञान की मूर्ति हैं। ये द्विजाति मात्र की आराध्या देवी हैं। इन्हें परब्रह्मस्वरूपिणी कहा गया है। वेदों, उपनिषदों और पुराणादि में इनकी विस्तृत महिमा का वर्णन मिलता है।
