About this app

Wider is a new vocabulary app that uses spaced repetition system and quizzes to help you memorize the 20000 most common English words.

You don't need to master the entire dictionary to understand everyday English, According to scientific studies, 5000 words allow you to understand about 98% of most ordinary texts, 10000 words allow you to understand about 99% of most texts, In this app, we give you a generous number: 20000 most common English words, ordered by importance.

Source of studies: Nation (1990) and Laufer (1997).

Each word comes with simple definitions from the WordNet database which is created by Princeton University and up to 20 examples written by native speakers to help you understand words in context.

With the scientifically proven method of spaced repetition, you will never forget a word, when you click "I know" or "Learn" the system determines the optimal interval to repeat a word, easy words will be repeated after a long time, and difficult words after a short time.

To enjoy learning, we have awesome quizzes, just try to answer, if your answer is right that good if its wrong try again until you find the right one, in this way you learn by mistake, which is an effective way to memorize vocabularies.
