About this app

1.The EOC Cranial AR Companion App adds augmented reality capabilities to the EOC Cranial Course Workbook

Learning Objectives

• Demonstrate the motion and axes of the different cranial strain patterns from a 3-D perspective immediately within the reference text for student visualization.
• Demonstrate the 3-D motion and axes of the individual cranial bones.
• Augment the students’ comprehension of the above motions and patterns by adding this 3-D element to an otherwise 2-D reference text.

2.The Virtual Cranium used in this 3D visualization App is based on a real-life specimen of a human skull, with all the realism and imperfections you would expect to see in a normal adult cranium. Through the use of this tool, it is our hope that you will solidify your knowledge of cranial anatomy and be able to identify and locate the most pertinent cranial landmarks based on their names, location or other clinically relevant information.
Why is it so important to learn these cranial landmarks? While there are many reasons, three in particular stand out:

1. To be able to correctly name and describe cranial somatic dysfunctions
2. To ensure correct hand placement for performing cranial osteopathic techniques
3. To be able to palpate specific cranial structures and detect any motion restriction

Learning Objectives

This tool is designed to help OMM students:
• Identify the cranial anatomical landmarks most relevant to the practicing Osteopathic Physician.
• Describe relevant information about each landmark, including name, location, content, and/or function
• Identify each landmark on a 3D image of the adult human cranium.
