About this app

As of 16 December 2015, this app has been superceded by our Dead or Alive Data Base app, also available on Google Play. The new app adds several new features, including photos, and fixes the screen layout issues that have been reported on some newer phones and tablets. This legacy app will still be offered for a limited time, but the Dead or Alive Data Base app should be your first choice, especially if you have a newer device.

Keep up with which celebrities of our time have died, and which ones are still alive. A Recent Deaths page shows you a list of famous people who have died in the past 365 days. The Today's Birthdays page lets you see who's celebrating a birthday today (as well as those who are no longer around to celebrate). Touching each person's name brings up a details page giving you info like full name, date and place of birth, date and cause of death, and a brief summary of what he or she is famous for.

The app also includes a search page that lets you access our entire online data base of nearly 3,000 names. This data base, which is constantly updated, includes TV and film actors, recording artists, TV and game show hosts, athletes, political figures, writers, and more.

Perhaps you recently saw an old movie or TV ahow, or heard an old song, and got to wondering whether the performer is still alive. Maybe you heard a rumor that a celebrity died recently, and you want to check it out. Or maybe you have a stubborn friend who insists someone has died, when you're sure they haven't, but you need a way to prove it. Whatever your reason is, if you're looking for the quickest way to find out whether someone is alive or dead, this app is your friend!

Who's Alive and Who's Dead is oriented to the U.S. audience. While it does contain listings of famous folks from Canada, the U.K., and the rest of the world, the goal is to focus on people who are well-known in America. We deliberately avoid padding the data base with dead celebrity icons such as John Wayne, Elvis Presley, etc., and other long-dead folks, so that we can bring you the best resource for keeping up with the living and the recently deceased.
