Media promotes and safeguards the human rights, democracy and good governance not only by its power
and ability to bring out the information about human rights violations that affects the honour, justice and life
of all communities, but it also raises or enhances the understanding and awareness of the general public
about the dynamics behind issues, events and happenings and it connects the people all over the world as
well.

Besides that, to raise awareness and to inculcate better understanding among the general public about
their rights and its violations, it has a moral obligation to investigate, monitor and report about the
observance of human rights and its violations.

The main goal of Yaazhparis and Thaaiman websites is not only to provide correct and credible information
about the struggles of Tamil people and, their hopes, fears and insecurities in Srilanka, which can be
analysed to form opinions but also through dialogue, provide a platform for the exchange of new ideas and
comingling of intellect which would unite and strengthen the Tamils, who had been consciously and
continuously excluded from political participation, economic development and social transformation.

During the process of news production and analysis Thaaiman and Yazhparis websites follow the principle

Yazhparis website which was launched on February 16, 2014 and the Thaaiman website which was
launched on April 13, 2015 is based on France, which got experienced and well qualified global network of
journalists, who operate an independent news service.

to the politicians, diplomats, policy makers, academics, human rights activists and also to various
