Rahmatjon Qurbonov Xorazm vohasining farzandi. U 1959 yil 20 sentyabrda Xorazm viloyatining Xiva shahrida tavallud topgan. O’rta maktabda o’qib yurgan kezlaridayoq: “Men katta bo’lsam, albatta, ulug’ ustozlarga o’xshagan san’atkor bo’laman. Va xalqimizning yaxshi kunlarida, to’yu tomoshalarida o’zimning san’atim bilan xizmat qilamat”, deb niyat qilib qo’ygan. Yaxshi niyat yarim davlat degan naqlga asosan, Rahmatjon Xivadagi Matyoqub Xarratov nomidagi musiqa bilim yurtida ham o’qib san’atdagi ijodining ilk davrini boshladi.Toshkentga kelib, Konservatoriyaning “Sharq” kafedrasi “Vokal hamda maqom” bo’limiga kirib o’qidi. Ulug’ ustozlar, O’zbekiston xalq artistlari Nasim Hoshimov, Halima Nosirova, Saodat Qobulovalardan ta’lim oldi va ularning sevimli shogirdlari qatoridan joy oldi. O’qishni imtiyozli diplom bilan bitirib, o’zi o’qigan dargohda bir necha shogirdlarga san’at sirlari, qo’shiq ijro etish va o’zbek maqomlarining sir-asrorlarini o’rgatish bo’yicha ta’lim bera boshladi. Shular qatorida shogirdlaridan Mashrabjon Ermatov, Erkin Ro’zimatov, Maryam Sattorova, Nasiba Sattorova, Yulduz Usmonova, Abdulhay Karimov kabi ko’plab san’atkorlar bugungi kunda xalq artisti, O’zbekistonda xizmat ko’rsatgan artistlar bo’lib, elimizga o’zining san’ati bilan xizmat qilib, o’z o’rniga ega, xalq ardog’idagi san’atkorlardir.
