About this app

Tarana Husain Khan is a teacher who loves to write, or a writer who loves to teach, depending on the day of the week.

Her first book, ‘I Am Not A Bimbette’, was inspired by her experiences in a prestigious boarding school in Nainital, in north India. The book was a part of the inaugural list of Juggernaut Books (https://www.juggernaut.in) and inspired Tarana to take up writing as a full time career.

Besides her success with Young Adult novels, Tarana is working on a book of historical fiction set in the former princely state of Rampur, where she lives. She is also researching the cultural moorings of Rohilkhand for a non fiction work which is in its inception.

As an educator, Tarana has worked in Nainital, Allahabad and Rampur where she was the headmistress and took up innovative projects besides preparing students for the board examination in Business Studies. She was chosen by the Union Human Resource Ministry, India to represent the ICSE board for the Indo-Japan Exchange Program, JENESYS and lead the student body for a study tour to Japan.

She has initiated a book club in Rampur to encourage people to read and talk about writing (http://community.juggernaut.in/how-writers-write-tarana-khan/)

Currently, Tarana spends her time writing, researching history, culture and food of Rampur and recording its oral history.
