About this app

IMPORTANT NOTES:

1) This app is currently in BETA and some functions may or may not work, although I am working hard to fix everything and enable more features, so please do not leave a negative review. Also, this app uses complex processing to extract data from various governmental websites and thus can stop working or show incorrect data without warning in case the governmental websites undergo structural changes, although efforts will be made to make sure data available is always correct.

2) The app may sometimes throw an error saying "Failed to connect to server". THIS IS NOT A BUG. The Indian governmental websites aren't very good and sometimes takes a long time to load, which causes a timeout. The app tries, for 15 seconds, to connect to the website and if it is not able to establish a connection, it will show that error. Please wait a few second and then press RETRY to try again. You may have to retry several times. Sorry for the inconvenience, but this is not under my control.

WarnIndia is an India-specific app to provide citizens information on earthquake, cyclone and tsunami and to issue early alerts/warnings in case there is danger.

WarnIndia uses data from various Indian governmental websites including
- INCOIS, Indian National Center for Ocean Information Services
- ISGN, Indian Seismic and GNSS Network
- RSMC, Regional Specialized Meteorological Centre New Delhi

to provide faster access to incidents and data.

WarnIndia features:
- View latest earthquake (Mag >6) reports on a map
- View latest tsunami report and bulletin
- View latest and past cyclone reports and bulletin, including a high resolution image of the country and ocean from the INSAT-3D satellite
- Crowd-sourced "Did you feel it?" service for early quake reports
- Warning alert/notification (work in progress)

WarnIndia also provides a crowd-sourced "Did you feel it?" service, that lets users quickly publish a report in case they feel an earthquake, and see reports from other users. Since people can feel/detect quakes faster than government can issue a warning to the public, this service allows users to be notified very early, especially in case of a powerful earthquake.
