I purchased Lightning Mcqueen with the idea that my kid would love it. Looks neat, but apparently only works in Sphero test labs. This unit has worked two times since I've had it with lots of disconnected messages and lost comms. I've tried everything I could to make this unit work. By and large I'm disappointed and will probably not be making any additional sphero purchases in the future.

My mcqueen is trying to install critical updates but when it tells me to plug it in for critical updates there is no prompt even after plugging it in. There is no progress bar shown.

I've been trying to start up the game for hours but it keeps telling me to get closer.... Meanwhile my network is good and Bluetooth is on... I just don't get it

This is my second Ultimate Lightning McQueen since my first one was replace by Sphero and my experince has been very disappointing. As soon as I got my second one in the mail again, issues. The app doesn't connect with my Lightning McQueen. Its says loss connection. To get closer. I have done everything on the troubleshoot. But with no luck. It won't sync at all. I have unistalled restarted my cell and re-installed the app and placed it on top of McQueen, I have done this with multiple cell phones and tablets in the house. I have blu tooth on, location, my wifi is strong and is high speed internet, the issue isn't that. This will be the last Sphero I will purchase. And I will not recommend it to anyone. Sphero seems to not have tested this product before putting it out on the market. I wish I would of read more reviews on this.

The app works well when there is nothing wrong. However if something gets stuck in the update process it doesn't help you fixing the issue at all. However the email support was great. Even replied to me on a Saturday! I was stuck in "Preparing for audio updates". Had to install an older version (1.1.2) from apkpure, to downgrade the car with this , then reinstall the app from playstore again to update the car again. Happy to have the device working now, and so is my nephew.

I have owned three balls, three droids, and this car. My experience has gotten continuously worse with each product, as if Sphero just lost the will to produce quality smart toys. Having gone through what amounted to "does the power cord look intact" troubleshooting, support kindly sent me a new vehicle which has promptly gotten bricked at the same point in the update process as the first one. The car is supposed to update over bluetooth but for some stupid reason, switches to its own wireless AP and insists that you connect to it. The wireless radio cuts on for about 5 seconds and then cuts back off, and the update never goes through. So now, I have two $300 paperweights. This is the absolute last product I will buy from Sphero until they get their support department back in order. You would think that nobody at the company actually works on these things. *Update: The vehicle will update properly if you use an iOS device apparently. Even worse.
