About this app

SMATA is made for teachers.
Get the information you need to make your practice learner-led.

How does SMATA work?
Teachers take photos, videos or audio of learning moments and make teacher notes, which are linked to students and learning areas.
Teachers use the SMATA sliding scale to decide whether what they have captured is evidence of emerging or rich learning.
This captured small data is graphed to show learning strengths, gaps and areas for increased richness. This informs teacher planning.
Teachers are able to review past observations to deepen their understanding of student and class learning.
Learning stories can be automatically generated and edited, then shared with families via whatever channel you prefer.

The Benefits of Using SMATA:

Place observation at the centre of your practice.

Make the curriculum, not assessment, the focus of learning.

Easily keep track of learning.

Plan from an evidence base of student learning.

Share with thoughtful intent by creating learning stories.

Supports a growth-focused, learner-centred pedagogy.

Simple, intuitive and fast.
