This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Phorus on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.

never get connected or very chopped sound output even wifi router indicated the phorus playfi inside the same network. I have the most updated version of firmware and apps..... However, just found that it may be due to signal strength issue which is not indicated by the apps. Suggest the apps to make warning on the signal strength to user

Fantastic update! So much faster to get my media server music playing. The next thing to address should be making the volume button adjustments in smaller steps. I hate having to try and make microscopic movements on the sliders on the screen.

Got my Polk SB1soundbar to play hifi wifi when no other app would. Shame on Polk Audio Inc. For allowing their apps to be broken for 3 YEARS and despite all the complaints they don't fix but rather make the soundbar app an ad for their newest model! SHAME! SHAME ON POLK AUDIO INC. Playfi is the only method to play the highest quality audio possible on this soundbar as it lacks and hdmi port.

Edit 8/9/22 getting worse... Don't download. Makes me wish I had not gotten rid of my cd player. That always worked! Trust me, invest in a great set of wired speakers and a tuner/amp. Wires work, play-fi doesn't. Constant issues.

The app worked smoothly for both the initial setup as well as when I had to reset as we moved the speakers to different location. Does take a little while even after wifi light stop blinking- which is supposed to signal completion.

Good app but still a bit annoying. Favourites should be sorted alphabetically (eg favourite artists). On browsing local twonky server, going up a folder presents a blank screen. And we REALLY need gapless playback. Please!!

Phorus makes simple, great-sounding whole-home wireless audio systems for Android phones and tablets. Using DTS's breakthrough Play-Fi(R) technology, you can stream your favorite tunes over Wi-Fi right from the app to Phorus Speaker(s) and/or Phorus Receiver(s) connected to your existing stereo system. It's a huge step up from Bluetooth - the audio quality is outstanding, and you can enjoy music from your phone in one room, or all your rooms, anytime.

The "Hi-Fi over Wi-Fi" listening experience is just a touch away, thanks to this handy app. Choose a speaker, choose a song, and your favorite tunes are streaming all through the house. Enjoy advanced features like left/right stereo set up and multi-zone streaming, too.

The app offers a wide range of built-in streaming options: Use Pandora, Deezer, Tidal, SiriusXM, play anything from your music library, enjoy songs from DLNA servers on your home network, or choose among thousands of AM/FM/Internet Radio stations and podcasts (ESPN, Radio Disney, BBC to name a few).
