It harnesses the power of a clever brainstorming tool called a "Mind Map"; a process where an initial vague idea is drawn inside a circle on a "map", and then branched out into various differing, more defined and fleshed out ideas (branches). The result is a mind map covered in loads of varying ideas and routes to go down, and a better picture of what you want to do in your creative endeavor.

The process of mind mapping has typically been done offline and in private, however IdeaNetwork attempts to revolutionize this by combining it with the power of social networking. Your mind maps and ideas are now open to all users and their differing perspectives; hence helping you discover ideas that you never even considered, and that could become part of your project.

Your idea will potentially gain input from thousands of users, each tailoring it to their own experiences and expertise of life. Each idea on a mind map has a voting system, a chat client and quick access to the author's profile to help you connect with them. There is an "extract top ideas" function that can allow users to collate the top voted ideas from every mind map into a list that they can then view and cherry pick from.

Throughout the mind-mapping process, you may discover people with ideas that interest you. You may find , through their skills/qualifications section located within their profile, that they have expertise to match your needs. This in turn can lead to the formation of teams/start-ups geared towards actualising your idea.
