If you have connection issue using app, you MUST put your phone into airplane mode before doing the WiFi connection to the camera. Otherwise even though your phone is connected to the camera, the phone will override and use cell phone data thus keeping the app from working. This is a feature on newer (not so new anymore) Android releases. It should be noted in the instructions for the camera, but it's not. Once connected I was able to view live mode, recorded video clips, settings, etc.

Works for my needs when on road. If I go through any rough road even somewhat fast it thinks every other bump is an accident and snaps like 50 pics and saves all the video logs. Need to upgrade that end of it and also a heavier duty power cable as the wife got mad and ripped the camera off my windshield and threw it out the window causing the connector to get jacked up, maybe a magnetic quick connect charge cable for the next model. Cant comment on sound quality because I turned sound off.

Unless you have the preview on. it's not recording. Had a situation where I needed the camera to play back video and it was not there. You would think by it being in the window it would record and you just have to link to phone and its there...NOPE !! Even in the manual it say will not catch everything. So disappointed in this camera. So now I'm going to just go buy one out the Truckstop and play it safe for now on.

I'm giving it one star right now because the entire function of connecting your phone via WiFi and downloading the footage is broken. I've tried multiple times with everything updated and can't get it to successfully download the footage. I used to be able to but can't now because the app is simply not doing it for some random reason. I will likely be seeking a different dashcam...

Camera records well enough, however if it's more than a short trip (even with large sd card) earlier video clips will be over-written. I tried to get a way to save clips using the g-force sensor (banging on ceiling, flicking cam, etc) however this is dubious at best. Will not connect to wifi direct, even though the manual says it will. Media does not download to mobile. App crashes frequently and struggles more than it should on a modern high power phone. Steer clear!

Like many here, I was ready to return my Walmart lx1801sd due to app connect issues. However, after trying review hints given, connect rate seems quite improved. Turn off BT & cell data. Make sure app is STOPPED. Erase/ forget any previous wifi use. Let the app do the connect, only use the back button to return to the app & don't rush it. It's cheap enough with good video. As long as it's running, if I MUST retrieve it, I've become more confident I can. Worst case, I'll risk a firmware update.
