About this app

NOTE: Free version available only to users in Newcastle

The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) of the Bible is one of the most widely loved English versions of the Bible. Descended from the King James Version, it combines academic rigour with a flowing style. The NRSV: The Bible for Everyone app features:

- Complete NRSV Bible text
- Add your own notes to Bible verses
- Bookmark your favourite verses
- Powerful search and browse functionality
- Share verses as images on social media

The NRSV: The Bible for Everyone app contains a superb new audio version by John Banks, specially commissioned by SPCK from Ladbroke Audio, bringing the NRSV to life as never before.

This new app, offering fantastic value, seamlessly integrates the audio with the text, and includes the option to add access to the For Everyone series of commentaries and Bible studies written by Tom Wright and John Goldingay, via in-app subscription.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We've stated on previous releases that the app now contains 'Continuous Play' functionality across chapters and books. At present this feature only works when the app is in the foreground and the screen is on. We're still working on enabling this feature when the device is asleep (or app is backgrounded) and will update the app again when it's available.

New features

- Updated journalling, journal entries now appear in-page
- Updated bookmarking with highlight colours
- Improved audio play functionality, play button always shows
- Continuous audio improvements across chapters and books
- Better audio playback in background
- Audio can now be saved on internal or external storage
- Better dark mode handling
