About this app

This application provides numerical solution of nonlinear string differential equation.
First and last node of the string has hardcoded positions (boundary conditions of equation)
You may simulate behavior of string which is set by several parameters
(number of segments, dx growth, dt growth, damping factor, nonlinearity factor)
, initial shape (initial conditions of equation) and obstacles (additional boundary conditions of equation).
You may also change string node values when your simulation is running.

You must be careful when setting equation parameters. Too big values, or some
parameter values combinations may lead to numerical instability (for example: big nonlinearity
factor: 2.0 and much smaller other parameters).

Using application:
STEP1: you may change your equation parameters and tap Apply Parameters
(at this point string shape will be reset to default u(x)=1.5*sin(x) function
and all obstacles will be removed.
STEP2: you may change string initial shape by tapping Define Shape
and changing this shape using your finger.
STEP3: You may add some obstacles by tapping Define Obstacles
and tapping on places when you desire one.
STEP4: Start your simulation by tapping Start Simulation button.

It is recommended to use tablet devices.
