This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Popup Japanese Dictionary on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.

Not able to use this on Xiaomi Redmi note 9, can you kindly check why is it happening? The pop up doesn't show on any app when using MiUi 11. It is based on Android 10.

Exactly what I needed, I read reviews saying try KAKU app instead, so wasted time installing that app and it was slow and clunky and difficult to use as reviews of that app say. Popup Japanese is exactly what it says it is. Smooth, fast, simple and easy to use and doesnt take up a ton of space or slow down or freeze (like KAKU) normal operations. Finally I can read Japanese news sites without the hassle and time of constantly switching btw apps to look up kanji. Thank you

It's like the Rikaikun of Android but unforunately it's a bit too basic: it popups even when you might not want it to. e.g. you're copying an English word or a phone number or URL, etc.. Also you can't edit the word being looked-up. This is a problem when copying from messaging apps like Messenger and Line which only allow copying of the entire text message so obviously it's not going to find it in the dictionary. Would be nice if it did a multi-word look-up like Takoboto and also allowed you to edit the looked-up text. If the above was fixed, I would give 5 stars.

I really love this app for letting me check words without leaving the browser page. Unfortunately this version doesn't work with my phone now which is on Android 10. I'm really looking for an update that will let me use this app again. Popup is essential for smooth reading experience in Japanese, so would definitely recommend.

I had no issues with it, but it stopped working after I upgraded to android 10. Would appreciate a lot if you can do a compatibility update.

Copy any Japanese word to look up its meaning, without leaving your current screen! Popup Japanese Dictionary is an offline Japanese dictionary app that lets you look up words just by copying text. Upon copying a word, a small window will float on the screen, showing the definition(s) of the selected word.
