This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Volume Boost Pro For Nexus 5™ on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.

Absolutely worth the price of admission! On a side note...the earpiece volume is greatly affected, (translation...reduced) by the speaker's grill holes getting clogged up with particles, (gross, but true...dead skin cells). I even replaced my Nexus 5's speaker with no improvement, which is when I figured it out. Just remove the speaker, (it just sits in its space and can be popped out with care), and add a drop of water directly to the speaker grill and then blow it through with a can of electronics cleaner (an expensive can of air). Repeat until you can see through the tiny holes, and if it doesn't clear, you can stick a pin through each hole and then clean it with the water drop and air. Do NOT use more than one drop of water with each repeated cleaning or you risk getting the boards wet and turning you phone into a paperweight.

Hands down it is an absolute must to address the systemic Nexus volume issue - otherwise why use your phone as a phone lol Outstanding.

DESCRIPTION:
This app is not your standard volume booster app which will usually distort the audio. It will modify your mixer_paths.xml file with the values you entered.
You can modify Speaker and Headphone volumes seperately.

3- Hit "Reboot to Custom Recovery" (requires root, if you dont have root, reboot into recovery as you normally would)
4- Install /sdcard/N5VolumeBoost.zip via Custom Recovery
