This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing Methodist Hymnal on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

No other hymnal like it.

Great app as it allows for use of the hymnal on tablet. With bible and hymnal on tablet we can sing a hymn before a meeting, bible study or any prayer service. Not all hymns available but as it is it remains a good resource. I also like that the music stops at the end of the hymn.... It doesn't just repeat for ever.

First I would purchase this app again but there is so much more it can be. It's not the full hymnal, some copyrighted songs aren't included. It's also missing the service orders, the psaler readings, and the special prayers that are in the United Methodist Hymnal. I love the organ playing the hymns, it appears to be set to do all the verses, there aren't any vocals, but if you can read music you will be okay. It would be nice to have music, stop controls on the hymn pages. This isn't setup well to just browse the hymnal either. How about a 'next page' / 'previous page' option? With just a little more this could be a five star app!

About this app

How wonderful and convenient to have your hymnal on your tablet. This is a full featured Methodist eHymnal with professionally typeset 4-part harmony music scores and lyrics. As a bonus, many of the hymns have professionally recorded organ accompaniment. Use the accompaniment for congregational singing, or to meditate on during your personal devotions.

The user interface has a clean look with no ads, and very easy to use. You can quickly and easily find the hymn that you want either by selecting from the alphabetical index of hymn titles and first lines, the numerical index of hymn numbers based on the United Methodist Hymnal®, or your own bookmark list. There is a full featured bookmark list for you to add songs that you need for quick access. Use the search feature to quickly search for words in the title or first line, or just enter a hymn number to jump directly to that hymn. You can also swipe left or right to go to the next or previous song just like turning pages in the printed hymnal. The swipe turning sequence can either be in numerical hymn number order, alphabetical hymn title order, or bookmark list order. Zoom in for larger notes and texts both in portrait or landscape orientations.

God has given me two talents-music and computer. I have been a church pianist and organist for several decades, and professionally, I am a computer professor. So putting these two talents together, I have personally written this app and recorded all of the hymns to be a blessing to others. Yes, and manually entered every single note in the scores! I hope that you will like it and be blessed by it. I would love to hear from you to tell me how I can improve this app.

This app is neither endorsed by nor affiliated with the Methodist Church. Currently, many of the copyrighted hymns are not included, but will be included in a future update when the copyright permissions have been obtained.

Because of the large number of songs, it will take about 10 minutes initially to download and install this app. No internet connection is required after the installation.
