Al-Habib Mundzir Al-Musawa pernah menjelaskan tentang "Maulid Addhiyaul Lami":

Maulid ini dikarang dan ditulis pada tahun 1994 di kota Syihir dekat Mukalla – Hadramaut, saat saya disana. Beliaulah Guru Mulia(Al-Musnid Al-Habib Umar bin Hafidh), guru mulia kita punya keahlian bahasa yang dipadu dengan kekuatan RUH yg dipadu dengan kedalaman SYARIAH yang mendalam. Guru mulia kita ini bukan sembarang guru,bagaikan paduan sosok samudera syariah, samudera dakwah, samudera ibadah, samudera makrifah dan haqiqah. Beliau memang ahli bahasa, syairnya bukan hanya Maulid Dhiya’ullami’, namun lebih dari 1000 alinea syair telah diterbitkan dari ucapan beliau, kalau dijumlahkan mungkin sudah ratusan ribu bait.

Beliau digelari pula AL-MUSNID, yaitu:(Setiap menyebut hadits beliau mampu atau hafal menyebut sanadnya hingga Rasul SAW atau KUTUBUS SHAHIH) Beliau di usia sebelum 20 tahun sudah hafal 20 ribu hadits, dan meneruskan hingga selesai ke 100.000 hadits, namun saat kunjungan beliau, beliau menegur saya untuk tidak menyebutkan gelar ALHAFIDH pada nama beliau.

Demikian rendah dirinya Guru Mulia kita ini, tidak suka gelarnya disebut, padahal kini untuk masuk pesantren beliau di DARUL MUSTHAFA syaratnya mestilah HAFAL ALQUR’AN dan 2000 hadits berikut sanadnya.

Guru Mulia Al-Musnid Al-Habib Umar bin Hafidh disuatu malam memanggil salah seorang muridnya yang penulis, lalu diperintahnya membawa pena dan kertas, seraya berkata: “Tulis..”
