About this app

BlinkReader is rehabilitational application that can be controlled without hands, only by blinking.

*requires Neurosky sensor

It is designed specially for persons suffering from transient or permanent paralysis. From the point of attaching a blink-detecting EEG headset to the user’s head, they will be able to set up, navigate, and read books without any external help.

Warning!
Blinks are detected by an EEG headset, which is required to play the game. You can purchase it in our web shop: http://www.shop.mindtech.hu/neurosky-mindwave-eeg

The application can detect the .epub e-books on your android smartphone, and you are able to browse through all of them with only blinking.

The app can distinguish between single blinks and double blinks, and these are the signals that control the game. One blink means stepping on the next item, two blinks means clicking on that item.

On first start, a unique blink-intensity profile is created for the user in order to provide perfect performance and easy navigation. The blink intensity profile can be recalibrated any time, and if the recalibration is not perfect, the user can calibrate it manually from the manual calibration menu.

The application provides two reading modes; the single and the double mode. The double mode is the basic mode, it was described above. The single mode is developed for people that are not able to double blink, or are not able to blink at all. In the single mode, the user is able to scroll in the book with only moving his eye hardly in the vertical axis, or with a single blink.

Please consider that it is not easy to learn how to control your blinks, especially double blinks. It may take some time and practice to learn to control the app! Since the sensor is very sensitive, please avoid facial muscle movements and intense body movements, because it can disturb the blink detection.
