I really want to like this synth but the user interface is unintuitive and infuriating. The font is hard to read to begin with but the font is also needlessly tiny and there's no indication it can be changed. The "help" tips are unhelpful and vauge at best. The UI is so out of the way it's hard to tell what's going on much of the time. Don't get this unless you're already somehow an expert of this particular synth layout.

Longtime musician, eurorack fan, synth loving millenial speaking - This could be so, so magnificent but the *UI is beyond unusable.* Beautiful, a feat of programming and visuals. But unusable. I tried. i wanted so bad to love it. Please just, include some documentation or tutorials. Have one of your friends go into it cold and watch them try to figure it out. This app makes me feel like I'm going crazy.

This was a waste of time. Some Minority Report like graphics that did nothing but spin around everytime that I thought that I might be going somewhere to actually use it, it took me to a 4 panel screen that doesn't do anything. I saw a microscopic (Btw, the whole app is microscopic) "buy" button, so I thought what the heck. I was thinking a $.99 or $1.99, but it was $12.99! If this "lite" version is supposed to get me to blindly drop $13 because maybe it will look like the photos and maybe I'll hear something, it doesn't.

AMAZING COOL EXPERIMENTAL MUSIC & SOUND EXPLORATION! EVERY DJ & PRODUCER SOUND ARTIST MUSICIAN FIELD RECORDER SHOULD HAVE MAZETOOLS! I really love everything about these apps & the depth of all of the functions, sampling, synthesis, and UI! Features for updates: a scrolling list that magnifies or zooms similar to android launchers for parameters A wider selection area would greatly improve use b/c it can be difficult to click parameters on phones or a "snap to" selection

Very complicated app. I got it to make a noise once! Haven't since. Why so difficult? Why can't I just jump into it & start creating? Why so hard?

As at least one other reviewer here as said, the app is too small, microscopic, as he or she said, which makes it very fiddly and difficult to use. Found it effectively unusable on my 5" smartphone for this reason, but many functions do not seem to work anyway. Might have more success in using this app on a larger screen tablet as the app images are so small. Regards, Brent Collins.

Take some time, see for yourself and explore the instruments and presets, the controllers and visuals. Try, celebrate, fail, everything is possible in the musical process. Experimenting with sound without forcing results provides slowing down, balance and exchange.

Mazetools Soniface is free worldwide and without advertising. You can support our work, our vision and all Soniface users by purchasing Soniface Pro. In return you will receive in addition:

Soniface Pro

- Pattern mode to create unlimited scenes with different instruments and settings for songs and performances
- Visual mode with 1-3 live video outputs for performance & VJing

Information
We do our best to avoid bugs, often enough they drive us crazy. But after the update before the next. So feel free to write us bugs and problems, definitely also if you made a song or video.

Soniface needs access to the camera for motion tracking, the microphone for audio recording, the local files to save projects and recordings, and the network for Ableton Link.

Much more content, terms of use, credits and FAQ are in the app's guide and can be found in the app's start-up menu.

About Mazetools
Empowering creativity, democratizing musical expression and making it inclusive - how does that work? These are the questions that keep us busy. Soniface is a first step in the process. But we want to go further - with you and the community.

We are Stephan Kloß and Jakob Gruhl, Ectoplastic from Halle/Leipzig, we first met in 1999 as teenagers to make hip hop and electronic music. Since then we are fascinated by music software and sharing our enthusiasm for it with people.

More than 10 years ago we started the Maze project - a software core of instruments and multimedia interfaces. Since then we have been dedicated to audiovisual connections, sound through movement and spatial audio. Through exchanges, sessions, research and development, and public funding, Maze became Mazetools.

Our roadmap follows the goal of improving workflow, experience, energy consumption, and new features of our previous mapping tools Mutant and Soniface. We are always open to ideas and constructive feedback. In 2024, we have two new releases coming up, Mazetools Botany and Modyssey VR. We have developed these over the last three years. To make it all work, we need your support!

We wish you a great time with Soniface,
Your Mazetools Team, Stephan & Jakob
