About this app

The application is a customizable, roll-your-own solution for live A/V recording to your Android device or for live media streaming. The concept of the app arose in the need for a covert customizable home brew A/V recording option which bypasses the need for interaction with external social networking apps and servers, i.e., we don't prefer to route our media through Facebook or Snapchat by default. Future versions of the application will include a richer A/V feature set and have options for live streaming applications to friend devices over the network.

Unlike many other applications on Play Store which provide similar A/V recording capabilities, this app is *fully open source software*! Therefore, you may actually review yourself what this app is actually doing with the requested Android permissions on your phone. The source code is available on the developer's GitHub page at https://github.com/maxieds/HomeBrewLiveStreamer. If you like and/or use and/or find any issues or have feature requests for future releases of the application, *please* drop the developer a line at maxieds@gmail.com. Enjoy the application!

New features

The Facebook Live functionality is working in beta mode, but needs more user testing. The live streaming to YouTube is more feature rich in some senses, though is currently experimental and not verified to be completely working yet. As with the first releases, the app is still well tested for audio and video recording -- especially audio recording when the phone is turned off. More consistent theming of UI widgets in this release.
