Scan QR codes from display cases and exhibits where they are available and listen to the story of the most outstanding finds, the mammoths’ evolution and its biology and other incredible animals of the harshest time in the history of the Earth – the Ice age.

The Mammoth Museum is a specialized scientific and cultural institution, where the study of mammoth, the mammoth fauna, and its natural environment in the ice age are carried out. The scientific knowledge among people is popularized at the museum.

More than 80% of all unique mammoth finds in the world have been found in Yakutia. Therefore, the World Mammoth Museum was established in Yakutsk in 1991 due to the initiative of the first Yakut expert on mammoth fauna Dr. Peter Lazarev. In 2011, the Mammoth Museum became a part of the North-Eastern Federal University.
