Lotus News was launched on 11 October 2012 It is owned by Seventh Vision India Private Limited. It was the first Tamil news satellite channel to have its base outside Chennai and also the first satellite channel to have its base in Coimbatore. The channel first introducedthe "Express News" pattern in Tamil news industry. The channel further introduced the worlds first transgender news anchor - Mrs. Padmini Prakash on 15 August 2014. The Agakkan News Bulletin presented by a specially abled blind school student Master.Sri Ramanujam is quite popular.
