GENESIS: LOCAL APP developed out of the unprecedented lockdown situation & social distancing norms across the globe including our local place where on one hand, businesses/producers are not able to sell their products/services and on the otherhand consumers need the same products/services but are not able to avail them. The desire to solve this peculiar situation gave birth to the citizen’s own app LOCAL.

BACKGROUND: LOCAL is the brainchild of a team comprising of the mentors and students of DARWIN’s Business Incubation Centre. Established in 2004, DARWIN SCHOOL of BUSINESS is an Entrepreneurship Development Institute of Assam and is also the designated Training-cum-Incubation (TIC) Centre in PPP mode of National Small Industries Corporation, a Government of India Enterprise facilitating the growth of small enterprises since 1955. As the NSIC-TIC, one of the primary mandate of DARWIN is to train, facilitate and enable the creation & growth of small enterprises. DARWIN is also the authorised Nodal Training Institute (NTI) of the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), an organization under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare, Government of India. As the official NTI, DARWIN is mandated to promote, train, mentor and handhold agripreneurs wanting to start or expand their agriculture or allied related businesses under the Agri-Clinic and Agri Business Centers Scheme (AC&ABC Scheme). The cost of the project has been 100% borne by DARWIN and is now made available for all its enthusiastic students (past or present or future) absolutely FREE of COST.

AIM: to create, support, assist EXISTING and ASPIRING MSMEs (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises)
This is DARWIN’s modest contribution in helping the society with an innovative digital solution – the future way.

We believe in giving the fishing rod instead of the fish because we believe that our entrepreneurs are capable enough to catch their own fish without depending on any subsidy, grant, aids, etc.

WHO CAN BENEFIT:

[A] LOCAL BUSINESSES/PRODUCERS & CONSUMERS:
LOCAL App can be availed by local businesses/producers/farmers to promote their products/services. Also, local citizens of the concerned locality can avail the local products/services readily and easily from the comfort of their homes/offices while adhering to the ongoing or future social distancing norms as set by the administration without any discomfort to their regular needs. People staying outside of the locality too can order for the products/services for their friends/relatives staying in the locality.

[B] LOCAL ADMINISTRATION:
Local administration can ensure seamless supply of essential services through the LOCAL App in a situation of lockdown/curfew, etc. Administration can also monitor & control price of essential services and thereby check on possible artificial shortage/black-marketeering/hoarding/etc. Furthermore, sale & purchase of goods/services would ensure collection of revenue for the administration.

SCOPE of LOCAL App:
The Business Incubation Cell of DARWIN is willing to extend its services to multiple locations wherever such a facility is needed. Buyers/Sellers can interact with each other at intra & inter district levels and satisfy each other’s demands locally. Furthermore, sub-apps are provided to vendors/sellers/stores wherein they can display their whole store/services and attract customers in this digital age.

Allows an app to access approximate location.
