The application is great however, since the new update (July 2021), the app asks to download the new dictionary and then attempts to connect to the server and finally says "download error." Now, I am unable to search words and the application does not work.

Worked great until Samsung did an update. Now the dictionary even after uninstalling and doing a reinstall won't download the dictionary database- so you have basically an empty app. No dictionary. Once this is fixed where I can use it again, I'll update email rating.

Used to be five stars. After latest update, it asks if I want to download the dictionary, then gives me a download error and is completely blank and doesn't work at all.

Please fix the new download of my NLD app! It does not down load to my Note9! It was loaded prior and I had no problem accessing it! Get it FIXED!

It was a great resource--when it worked. It frequently crashed on my old phone and now it won't complete its installation on my new Galaxy A52 5G. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times, but to no avail. It either doesn't succeed when trying to contact the server, or it crashes after downloading data. It never gets past "unpacking data". I'm very disappointed.

Worked great on my Samsung Note 4. Will not complete app installation on my new Note 20 Ultra. You need to fix this as I have used this app for many years.

About this app

The New Lakota Dictionary (NLD) Mobile App is the best way to look up Lakota words, hear pronunciation, and view thousands of example sentences while on the go. It’s the ultimate electronic Lakota learning and reference tool.

• Male and female voices for audio
• Consistent phonemic spelling – Standard Lakota Orthography
• Superior cross-referencing capabilities
• Faster and more responsive than online versions
• Works offline, without active data connection
• Inflection charts show extensive verb forms
• Copy/Paste by word or line
• Save favorites lists and navigate search history
• Leave comments to improve future versions
• Built in keyboard for typing special characters
• Built-In lemmatizer searches for conjugated verbs and word forms
• Over 400 native speakers involved in its development and review
• Accurate and reliable
• Fun to use and explore
• An excellent self-study tool

"The lemmatizer is one of the biggest advantages of the app when compared to the printed version of the NLD. Lakota is a highly agglutinating language. Affixes are added to words all the time, so unless you know the stem of the word with affixes, you won’t be able to find it in the dictionary. The app does that for you. If you type in e.g. waŋwíčhablake the app will show you the entry waŋyáŋkA."
