It's wonderful to have this classic unabridged Latin dictionary in such a handy format! Crashes sometimes when starting to enter a new headword for search.

Used to be pretty usable, but it now crashes consistently after a couple searches. Bordering on unusable, but it is functional. Might switch to SPQR

This is such a great idea and I'm sure it has caused you a lot of headaches. Works well. Thank you for your service to Latin and Greek readers.

A good app, a couple steps from being great - for example, dozens of headwords have stray ^'s inserted - e.g. a^grestus, making them unsearchable

Great app and works very well, but contains quite a few machine errors in the transliteration to Greek such as μηξανή for μηχανή or a few τη for θ.

From a paid app I expect much better quality! It regularly crashes, and the search function has a mind of its own.

About this app

This is Lewis and Short's unabridged "A Latin Dictionary (1879)"! After the Oxford Latin Dictionary it is the most important lexical resource for students of Classical Latin!

Version 3.0 is a major upgrade of 2.0, which itself was a complete rewrite of the user interface. 3.0 now offers the full, unabridged, Lewis and Short text, whereas the previous app only offered Lewis' abridged "An Elementary Latin Dictionary (1890)." For those of you just interested in "An Elementary Latin Dictionary" then it is now available as a separate, cheaper, app.

Features:

(1) Prefix search for all headwords
(2) Full text search by keyword for all of the dictionary entries
(3) Completely offline! After the first license check the app remembers your device.

Nota Bene: The original OCR effort by Tufts University did a very bad job with the Greek glosses in this dictionary. While it is better than in their OCR effort for Lewis' abridged edition, there are numerous mistakes with the Greek accents. This can only be corrected by hand and will take me some months. Fortunately, the English and Latin OCR came out perfectly.
