The Little Match Girl is a short story by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen. The story is about a a little girl's dreams and hope, who is sent out to sell matches on Christmas Eve. She freezes but does not dare to go home, to get warm she strokes the matches one by one, but eventually there are no more left. This classic fairy tale was first published in May, 1848. These fairytales hold stories of great value and are a source of inspiration for all, young and old.
