Assalamu Alkaikum Wr Wb
Allah berfirman di dalam Al Qur'an, "Sesungguhnya telah ada pada (diri) Rasulullah
itu suri teladan yang baik bagimu (yaitu) bagi orang yang mengharap (rahmat) Allah dan (kedatangan) hari kiamat dan dia banyak menyebut Allah." (Surat 33. AL AHZAB - Ayat 21)

Didalam suatu hadits disebutkan, Rasulullah saw. bersabda:
"Ya Allah, rahmatilah khalifah-khalifahku." Para sahabat lalu bertanya,
"Ya Rasulullah, siapakah khalifah-khalifahmu?" Beliau menjawab,
"Orang-orang yang datang sesudahku mengulang-ulang
pelajaran hadits-hadits dan sunahku dan mengajarkannya
kepada orang-orang sesudahku. (HR. Ar-Ridha).

Umar bin Abdul Aziz menulis surat kepada Abu Bakar Ibnu Hazm sebagai berikut,
"Perhatikanlah, apa yang berupa hadits Rasulullah saw. maka tulislah,
karena sesungguhnya aku khawatir ilmu agama tidak dipelajari lagi, dan ulama akan wafat.

Janganlah engkau terima sesuatu selain hadits Nabi saw..
Sebarluaskanlah ilmu dan ajarilah orang yang tidak mengerti sehingga dia mengerti.
Karena, ilmu itu tidak akan binasa (lenyap) kecuali kalau ia
dibiarkan rahasia (tersembunyi) pada seseorang."
