About this app

The State of Maryland Independent Living Services are available to youth ages 18 to 26 in out-of-home placement and are designed to prepare youth to transition from foster care to self-sufficiency. Under this mandate, the Montgomery County Maryland Child Welfare Services (CWS) determined that a mobile application was needed to better serve the CWS transitioning youth population (ages 18-26 who are in foster care or who have transitioned from foster care) and assist them in moving towards independence. The purpose of obtaining this mobile application (Keeping Up) is to provide accessibility to an existing base of users who are currently within and/or have aged out of the foster care system and serve as a system navigation tool that helps these youth identify resources, supportive services and crisis intervention based on where they are living in Maryland. Additionally, this mobile app would be accessible to the foster parents of these youth as well as their social workers within Child Welfare Services to allow convenient interfacing and accessibility to community resources and services.
