Sight reading is generally a weakness for guitarists (including me) and none of the books I've got to learn sight reading use chords unless you do classical which I don't. So this is great, you can just bash away and it until you get it. Very very useful app.

I got up to level three and noticed several mistakes, specifically once 7th chords are introduced. CMaj7 is spelled CEGB but in the game it displays a B flat, which is incorrect. Same for Fmaj7, which is spelled FACE, but in the game it displays an E flat which is also incorrect...I haven't gone any further than this level now because I don't want to reinforce these mistakes.

The 3D looking keyboard is a bit weird (you dont see a keyboard this way when you are playing), otherwise its pretty helpful.

No stop button, automatically just keeps going. Visual keyboard to small but great idea.

About this app

You know some music theory? You understand musical notation? But when you see a chord, you start scratching your head?

Then Flash Chords is for you.

Flash Chords is a game which trains you to recognize chords on sheet music and on the piano keyboard.

GAMES:

Flash Chords contains 4 similar games:

○ Treble Clef
Flash Chords shows you a chord in musical notation using a treble clef and three possible names for the chord. You pick the correct name.

○ Bass Clef
Flash Chords shows you a chord in musical notation using a bass clef and three possible names for the chord. You pick the correct name.

○ Piano Keyboard
Flash Chords shows you a chord on the piano keyboard and three possible names for the chord. You pick the correct name.

○ Treble Clef Reverse
Flash Chords shows you the name of a chord, and three possible versions in musical notation using a treble clef. You pick the correct musical notation.

LEVELS:

Each game has multiple levels.

To finish a level, you have to recognize each chord within a fixed time period. A progress bar shows you how much time you have to recognize the chord.

Level 0 starts in the key of C with just three chords. As you progress to higher levels:
* more chords are added
* new key signatures are added
* the expected response time is reduced

The expected response time starts at 7 seconds and is reduced down to 2 seconds.

PLAY:

The starting point for each game is the selection screen. Here you select one of the four games, or select automatic mode.

The App shows the key signature for the following chords for a period of five seconds and then starts a sequence of 20 chords. These 20 chords all use the same key signature.

After the sequence of 20 chords, you return to the selection screen. Flash Chords selects a new key signature, which it shows for five seconds, and the continues as before.

If this wait is too long, you can continue immediately, by swiping the progress bar to the right.

NOTATION:

Flash Chords allows you to select the musical notation you prefer:
* English (C,D,E ,F,G,A,B)
* German (C,D,E,F,G,A,H)
* French (Ut,Ré,Mi,Fa,Sol,La,Si)
* Italian (Do,Ré,Mi,Fa,Sol,La,Si)

You can also select the notation for major and minor chords, for diminished and augmented chords and for accidentals.
