About this app

We are a colorful bunch. We work for the "taz" and the "world", for the "Focus" and ... and ... and ... Among us, there are SPD and CDU, change and no-go voters, Greens, supporters of Democrats and American Republicans, monarchists , Anarchists, conservatives and liberals, liberal-conservative Social Democrats and socialliberal anarchy conservatives - and even a few members of the FDP. We live in Munich, Bremen, Berlin, Freiburg, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Washington and New York. Among us there are believers, unbelievers and heretics. We like to argue with each other, also with each other.

We share the joyous admission that we have no utopia. It is not possible to use the Hauruck method to remove all humanity problems at once. So far nothing has been invented in politics except the liberal (bourgeois, capitalist, parliamentary) democracy, which is not a solution, but a complicated, often flawed, mode of seeking solutions together.

We also unite that we do not believe the end-time prophets. The world does not go under. The greenhouse effect will not cause the Cologne Cathedral to be under water. The European Union is not like the Soviet Union and the euro is not the end of Western civilization. Hannibal is not ante Portas, Germany does not get rid of it and we get it with the refugees, of course. The United States of America will not go bankrupt and will be bought up by the People's Republic of China. Terror is shattering Europe, but it will not destroy the European idea.

Genetic engineering is not a science of Frankenstein and atomic energy is not a devil. At all, we do not think that everything that is "natural" (or so called) is inevitably the better. We believe that people can improve their living conditions through energy, courage and inventiveness and consider the achievements of the industrial society (school medicine, modern agriculture) as something positive.

This is not a purely political blog, we have a lot of feuilleton: high culture, low culture, intercultural culture, everyday culture, architecture and travel reports.

What we like: Good food, good cinema. Theatre. Good books. "It Don't Mean A Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing" by Duke Ellington. Constitution. The B Minor Mass of Johann Sebastian Bach. The Rubaijat by Omar Chaijám. The first supplement to the American constitution. André Glucksmann's "Philosophy of deterrence". Winston Churchill's speech "We shall never surrender". The FC Bayern München. Immanuel Kant's "Critique of Pure Creativity". The beach promenade in Tel Aviv. Martin Luther King's speech: "I have a dream". The fine, sad-witty cartoon that "Charlie Hebdo" has published after the terrorist attack. Demonstrations for Human Rights in Hong Kong. Entenhausen, Germany. The beautiful, small portraits of Mohammed, as they were painted in Persia. Sunsets. Rainbow. Laws that prohibit children from beating. The American declaration of independence with its emphasis on natural law on "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness".

Blog spoilers: What you will not find with us: People who call the victims of terrorist attacks in the grave: "To blame!" Anti-Americans of every color. Less-tempered of Islamism. Antisemites, who cost themselves as Israel critics. Racists costing themselves as Islamic critics. Sympathizers of the "Linkspartei". Sympathizers of the "alternative for Germany". Sympathizers of "Pegida" and their offshoots. Fightatheists. Fundamentalists. Self-titled intelligence researchers who want to persuade us that certain groups of human beings are more stupid than others for genetic reasons. Dictator friends. Geert Wilders pendant
