ইমাম বুখারী (রঃ) নবীজির সুন্নত তথা হাদিস সংগ্রহ করার জন্য ছয় বছর ব্যয় করেন এবং পুনরাবৃত্তি সহ ৯,০৮২ টি হাদিস সংগ্রহের মাধ্যমে বুখারী শরীফ রচনা করেন। সংগ্রহের স্বীকৃতির জন্য তাঁর গ্রন্থটি সবচেয়ে উত্তম । এছাড়াও মুসলিম শরীফ, তিরমিযি শরীফ ও আবু দাউদ শরীফ উল্লেখযোগ্য।
