About this app

Wali adalah grup musik asal Ciputat, Tangerang Selatan. Grup musik ini dibentuk pada tahun 1999. Anggotanya berjumlah 5 orang yaitu Faank (vokal), Apoy (gitar), Tomi (drum), Ovie (keyboardist), dan Nunu (bass). Semua personel band ini adalah lulusan pesantren dan sebagian merupakan alumni UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Album pertamanya ialah Orang Bilang yang dirilis pada tahun 2008. Band ini umumnya ber-genre lokal pop kreatif total dengan sedikit sentuhan irama melayu dalam lagu-lagu mereka. Lagu hit dalam album ini adalah Dik dan Egokah Aku yang menggunakan Shireen Sungkar sebagai model video klip. Lagu Dik yang merupakan andalan dengan memasukkan unsur pop cinta itu, tercatat berhasil menjadi RBT (ring back tone) bagi 1 juta pemilik telepon seluler hingga pertengahan Mei 2008. Ini menjadi barometer kesuksesan grup yang beranggotakan 5 pria itu.

Sukses dengan album perdana, Wali segera merilis album keduanya yang sebagian besar diciptakan oleh Apoy. Sebelumnya, Wali telah merilis lagu jagoan dari album terbarunya, Cari Jodoh. Bahkan berkat RBT single Cari Jodoh ini, Wali mendapat hadiah umroh dari labelnya, Nagaswara.

Dalam momen Ramadan 1430 Hijriah (Agustus-September 2009), Wali juga mengeluarkan lagu religi yang berjudul Mari Sholawat.[1] Setelah merilis album kedua, sang basis, Nunu memutuskan untuk mengundurkan diri dan dikabarkan tengah mengerjakan proyek di bawah bimbingan basis Dewa 19, Yuke Sampurna.[2]
