About this app

Busy, beautiful and much loved, Lerwick Town Hall has been at the centre of Island life for more than 130 years. With this app you can explore the Town Hall and, with Augmented Reality, meet virtual tour guides, seven year old Margaret, the Maid of Norway, and Arthur Laurenson, the man behind the magnificent stained-glass windows, who will guide you through Lerwick’s colourful history as depicted in the beautiful windows in English and Norwegian.

You’ll need to visit the Town Hall to unlock the information. When you get there look out for the AR icons on the interpretation panels around the hall, tap the AR button, point your mobile device at the panel to meet Margaret and Arthur and unlock more about each of the windows and the history of the Town Hall.
The app will allow you to zoom into the fine detail of the windows to see the fine workmanship that has gone into them and the detail of the stories they tell.

You can explore the heraldic plaques dotted around the ceiling of the Great Hall with our interactive 360 viewer to find out what they symbolise and where they all came from.

A floor plan will guide you to the places of interest around the Town Hall and the AR trigger locations.
Once you’ve triggered the content at each location it will be saved in your collection for you to look at again any time you like.

How to use the app
· On opening the app, allow access to your device’s camera.
· Choose your language.
· As you walk around the Town Hall, look out for the AR trigger icons on the interpretation panels beneath the windows.
· Tap the AR button and hold your device as if taking a photograph of the image on the panel.
· The trigger locations on the ground floor unlock information about the windows. The trigger locations of the first floor trigger the virtual tour guides as well as information about the windows.
