About this app

Zoo Nerd enhances your zoo visits with more animal facts, animal tracking, and trip reports. Zoo Nerd is the must have educational app for zoo goers.

Tired of questions from your 3 year old you can't answer while you're at the zoo? With Zoo Nerd you don't have to rely on minimal signs to learn about an animal, additional information about animals is a tap away. The detailed view describes the animal, allowing you to get tons of available information without searching the internet. Want to know what sound an orangutan makes when annoyed? Now you don't have to rely on one sentence zoo sign.

Don't feel like reading an entire article? Quick animal facts are generated to impress your kids with. The unpredictability of these animal facts is part of the charm.

You can log which animals you've seen, see if you're getting the most out of your zoo visits (for bored parents). Make a game out of seeing all the animals. Once you log an animal the title bar showing the animal name turns green so you can easily track what you've already seen. This information is saved over visits.

If you'd like to track your visits, Zoo nerd creates a zoo report so you can log which animals you've seen.

Specific animals from zoos are loaded and only the animals in these zoos are shown if the zoo is selected. For example, if you're at the San Diego Zoo, and have the zoo set to San Diego Zoo, you only see animals they have at the San Diego Zoo. If your zoo is not loaded you can still view all animals and track them. Select the zoo under the Zoo settings. Currently the following zoos are loaded:

San Diego Zoo - California, U.S.A.
Santa Ana Zoo
Colorado Springs - Cheyenne Mountain Zoo
Chicago, Illinois - Lincoln Park Zoo
LA Zoo - Los Angeles, California
National Zoo - Washington D.C.
New Delhi India - National Zoological Park

Over 1,000 animals are sorted into categories (mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles, invertebrates) for easy search.
