About this app

Cobrapost is a non-profit news web site and TV production house. We’re doing what the mainstream media often fails: bring out the truth in its untrammeled form. We do document- and RTI-based stories. Sometimes we do field stories covering various topical issues. We also use the hidden camera, to unravel truth. We do stories which are political, social and economic in their aspect, exposing crime and corruption in public life, both at political and government levels.
Here is a quick recall of some of the stories.
Operation 136: Part I–II (Dateline: March 26, 2018 and May 26, 2018): An unprecedented expose of more than 40 media houses ready to undertake a communal and defamatory campaign, including Times of India, India Today, Hindustan Times, Zeen News and TV 18.
Operation Shuddhikaran (Dateline: July 29, 2016): The story uncovered the RSS covert conversion drive, through its well-entrenched network of pracharaks across the country, in the name of providing free education to kids of poor tribal families (https://archive.cobrapost.com/news/cobrapost-expose-operation-shuddhikaran-cover-story/4635).
Special Report on Bundelkhand Package: An expose of the corruption where the real beneficiaries of the package turned out to be the babus not the poor farmers (https://www.cobrapost.com/blog/cobrapost-Bundelkhand/1109).
Digging Deeper For Profit (Dateline: April 19, 2016): A look at the water packaging industry across India which is exploiting groundwater to the hilt for profit, leaving the local community bereft of their share of water.
Up In The Air (Dateline: December 18, 2014): A look into politicians’ overindulgence in opting for travelling by chartered crafts owned by big business houses, thus flouting Election Commission guidelines.
Operation Red Spider PART I–IV (Dateline: March–May 2013): The first of its kind, this story exposed major banks, both PSU and private, and insurance companies willing to launder unaccounted cash of a fictitious politician (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqRYfUWZDj0). The RBI imposed penalties on the HDFC Bank and Axis Bank, among others, while making KYC mandatory.
Operation Black Rain (Dateline: August 16, 2015): The story shows confessions of perpetrators of six major massacres of poor, unarmed Dalits in Central Bihar by the Ranveer Sena militia (https://archive.cobrapost.com/archive-expose/operation-black-rain-revisiting-the-killings-of-dalits-of-bihar-and-confessions-of-their-killers/6549). The story led to an outcry across the country for justice to the victims of these horrifying killings.
How Officials Allow Scrap Containers Without Inspection (Dateline: April 17, 2015): Some companies in India are jeopardizing national security by allowing scrap metal containers to be imported on fake Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificates (PSIC) without the mandatory pre-shipment inspection (https://www.cobrapost.com/blog/officials-allow-scrap-containers-without-inspection/920).
To Kill a Wanted Man (Dateline: 2011): This story was based on true facts on how the US agencies teamed up to get rid of the most dreaded terrorist of the world Osama Bin Laden. The story focused on how different agencies worked together without letting the world know a single movement of different US forces.
My Name is Khan: Part I–II (Dateline: 2010): This story showed how house owners in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai would rent out their premises to anyone but Muslims (https://youtu.be/dLMMASRCgzI).
Operation Kinnar (Dateline: August 28, 2006): The story exposed some self-made doctors who forcibly operate on men to turn them into eunuchs (https://www.cobrapost.com/blog/operation-kinnar/605).
Operation Duryodhan (Dateline: December 12, 2005): Eleven parliamentarians were caught on-camera accepting money for raising questions in Parliament. In an unpercedented move all of them were dismissed (https://www.cobrapost.com/blog/Operation-duryodhana/1031).
