Installation Instructions

This article outlines two straightforward methods for installing CHAOS Home Notifier on PC Windows and Mac.

Using BlueStacks

  1. Download the APK/XAPK file from this page.
  2. Install BlueStacks by visiting http://bluestacks.com.
  3. Open the APK/XAPK file by double-clicking it. This action will launch BlueStacks and begin the application's installation. If the APK file does not automatically open with BlueStacks, right-click on it and select 'Open with...', then navigate to BlueStacks. Alternatively, you can drag-and-drop the APK file onto the BlueStacks home screen.

The Cloud Home Automation OS (CHAOS) is a platform which enables users to develop and sell home automation apps. It adds an App ecosystem layer on top of home automation hubs, like the Vera Control home automation hub (formerly Micasaverde Vera). It uses novel phone sensing methodologies to provide inputs to the automation hub. See http://www.chaosappstore.com for more details.


This app works with the CHAOS Home Notifier Vera plugin, which is available for free on the MiOS marketplace: https://apps.mios.com/plugin.php?id=5426. It demonstrates a piece of functionality which will be available on the final CHAOS platform; sensing when the user arrives home from their phone presence. With this you can trigger scenes or devices on the Vera hub when the user arrives or leaves home. This app allows you to test the home detection functionality before purchasing the ability to control a Vera Control Hub.


Setup of this app is extremely simple and it is optimised to minimise battery usage. Unlike other home detector apps, this app has a practically zero energy impact on the phone. You'll barely notice it running.


Please note: This app is not working for Vera UI6 or UI7 yet. If you have upgraded to one of these versions of the firmware, please downgrade or hold-off on trying this app for the time being.
