About this app

This app is to solve SUDOKU puzzle. It is fascinating always to use computer to solve the SUDOKU puzzle though it does not follow the pattern people use to solve it. I was doing my second year Under Graduation Bachelor of Science in Special Mathematics at The American College, Madurai, India. Since, I had keen interest towards computers from my childhood and wanted to get a hold of them, I decided to take elective course Programming in C as part of my third semester.

During the study of the course, one of my friend Shanmuga Prabu challenged me to solve SUDOKU puzzle using computers. After three days finally I completed writing a C program to solve SUDOKU!

When I completed writing it and about to run in one of the computers of PG Mathematics Department lab in the college, once of my professor and HOD of UG department Mr. Emmanuel Jebarajan affectionately called as EJ was sitting adjacent to the computer and turned towards me seeing me writing some program.

He questioned about what was it I am doing about. I told him that I had written a program to solve SUDOKU and about to run the program. He got very much excited about it and he brought that day's The Hindu newspaper which had a SUDOKU puzzle in its last page.

He started telling me the position of the grid and the numbers of the SUDOKU puzzle. I was very much anxious if the program will give the correct output or not. Anyway I decided to get the input grid positions and numbers from him and started to feed the input to the computer program.

Once the input was given, I hit the Enter button. Viola! for everyone's surprise, It spitted 9X9 size correctly filled puzzle. The HOD was very happy and he was all appreciation for me. He never saw any student writing a computer program this much caliber. He is happy to inform everyone in the department to tell about my program.

Also, he decided to present the program in the form of a paper presentation as part of a upcoming department event. For that he invited me to his house and analysed the program. After that, I got to know I have indirectly used concept of back tracking in the program. In the event, I presented the paper in the form of algorithm and gave a demo of C program execution.

Emmanuel Jebarajan was my inspiration and motivation to take up my higher education MCA in NIT Trichy and my career in IT industry.

I have converted the C program to Android app using Xamarin Forms framework now.

Please try my apps and let us know the feedback. Also, the apps will keep improvising through updates based on the feedback shared by the people.
